Hello Everyone!
I don’t know about you, but lately I’ve really been noticing some changes in the music scene. Whenever people ask me, “What kind of music do you like?” I have a hard time coming up with an answer. So many of my favorite artists are always experimenting with so many different genres.
In this post, I will share one artist who I feel does multiple genres very well: Lady Gaga.
GAGA
First on my list is none other than Lady Gaga. This artists has produced music in pretty much every genre one can think of. These include, pop, dance, country, hip-hop and now even some rock and metal.
Early Days:
Most people may know Gaga from her pop and dance music past. Back then, she released a lot of this kind of music with songs like “Bad Romance,” “Just Dance,” and “Poker Face.”
Metallica:
More recently at the 2017 Grammy’s, Gaga performed, “Moth Into Fame” with Metallica for that one night.
Now metal isn’t really my cup of tea usually, but listening to the performance, Gaga’s vocal talent shows through even with all of the guitars and drums behind her. The control she has over her voice is unbelievable even as she jumps around on stage.
This article has a clip of the performance if you’d like to see for yourself.
Joanne:
Gaga’s newest album titled, “Joanne” (2016) is also showcasing Gaga’s ability to shift genres.
She slows it down a little on this album, showing off her voice more and hiding less behind the track. Joanne definitely gives me more country and alternative vibes. Either way, it’s easy to see how different a direction Gaga took this album from the rest of her music.
“John Wayne” is the song on this album that really screams country to me. While, “Hey girl” is a lot more soulful and funky. “Grigio,” however, suggests the more alternative genre to me.
What do you think?
Are there any artists you can think of at this very moment that has dabbled in two, three, or even four different music genres in their songs? Let me know in a comment.
Until next time,
Vic Wilbur
