The talk with Professor Anderson was very enlightening for me. I especially liked how he explained how his organization worked in order to put it in perspective for us. One thing that’s really sticking out to me, though, is how much he talked about applying to more than one grant. He mentioned that most of the funders they applied to were ones who have given them money before or they already have relationships with. However, it’s important to remember that you can’t always count on that. When he said one funder asked them to apply because they really wanted them and they didn’t even end up getting it in the end. That shows that you must have other funding on top of the grants you’re applying for. If you depend solely on a single grant, then your project is being set up to fail. Overall, this was really helpful in seeing how what we are learning can be put into practice in the real life field.
