I really like that this class has a workshopping piece because it very closely resembles an actual newsroom. Being part of the editorial team was nice because I got to take the place of the editor and help others adapt to the form of journalistic writing. One huge suggestion that kept coming up for various papers was making sure the writer had various different sources that may offer opposing viewpoints or even just reinforce different pieces of one side of a story. This is important and helpful because it will show the full breadth of a story in order to leave the reader with the least amount of unanswered questions possible. Additional sources make sure you fill in all of the pieces of the puzzle that is a journalistic story. Another suggestion that a bunch of people gave was to trim up your lead in order to make it concise and informative without revealing too much information too early on. This really helped me because I often struggle with this format in how each piece of information is organized.
