There is a recurring theme while workshopping these articles that keeps coming up each time. I feel like the lead is always hard to get right unless you have another set of eyes on it. Many people noted that some lead had the information it needed to work as a thesis, however, it could be more attention grabbing. One way to do this is to tell the reader what your overall theme for a profile will be in the lead. So, if the reader connects with that theme or wants to learn more, they will continue reading. Another suggestion that stuck out this week was to talk to more than just the person being featured in the profile. Speaking to students or colleagues of a professor can give the reader a closer look into who this person is from an outside perspective. Or, a professor could say that the things students learn in their classes are valuable, but how much more powerful would that be coming from a student themself?
