I want to start out this post by asking you: how did your favorite artists start out in their careers? Did they follow in their parents footsteps? Were they a child actor? Did they win a singing contest show like the XFactor?
Following the drop of his first hit single, “Happy Little Pill,” Troye Sivan started blowing up in the pop music world.
He went on to release a full length album called, “Blue Neighbourhood,” as well as several well-produced music videos. The album went gold in a number of counties and silver in the UK.
However, Sivan came from humble beginnings. Ten years ago, he started his YouTube channel for fun. His content included anything from covers (above) to silly skits (below).
Other famous people today that had a start on YouTube or singing shows include One Direction, Cody Simpson, Susan Boyle, Bo Burnham and even Kate Upton.
These several success stories allude to YouTube and talent TV shows can really help talented people make it big. This is because platforms like this get exposure for talent. The internet can be a scary place sometimes, but it can also change someone’s life for the better.
What do you think? Should more talent be using this venues to get their name out more or should there be other ways to gain fame? If so, which roads to fame do you feel is the most ideal? Tell me your thoughts in a comment.
Until next time,
Vic Wilbur
